Volterra<\/strong>\u00a0is an ancient Etruscan town, one of the most important for this people, and in its historical center has preserved many testimonies of this glorious past. Part of the\u00a0stone walls<\/strong>\u00a0surrounding it, some access doors and the acropolis date back to the first centuries of its existence. In the heart of the village are several monuments of medieval times such as the scenic\u00a0Cathedral<\/strong>, the\u00a0Baptistery<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Bell Tower<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The village rises on the top of a hill surrounded by cultivated fields and groves. At a glance, the walls and houses of Volterra seem to be one with the rock underneath, it\u2019s really charming. On the highest part of the hill lies the\u00a0Medici Fortress<\/strong>, an imposing castle that with its mole dominates the roofs and terraces of Volterra. From here you can enjoy a beautiful\u00a0panorama<\/strong>\u00a0that spans over the surrounding countryside and the nearby villages. Volterra is famous for the craftsmanship of the\u00a0alabaster<\/strong>, a stone of blue color that is abundant in the area. The masters of the alabaster of Volterra realize many objects and jewels with traditional decorations.<\/p>\n
